The Norwegian artist Nils Berg Lien (1853 - 1928) had a permanent room in the old hotel. The artist would often work on his paintings at the hotel and his works can be seen at the NB Nils Berg Lien Gallery, which is adjoined to the hotel. He was known for his romantic visions of Norway and its people, plus use of motifs from fairytales and legends.
